Important Information
Valuation Requirements
Accurate valuation is essential for proper insurance coverage. Your insurance is based on replacement cost or market value, and all items must be individually valued and declared in your application.
For international moves, estimate replacement costs at your destination country, taking into account any cost-of-living differences. This ensures you receive adequate compensation in the event of a claim.
Replacement Cost Valuation
Items must be valued at their replacement cost or market value. For international moves, estimate replacement costs at your destination, accounting for cost-of-living differences.
Individual Item Valuation
All items must be individually valued and listed in your insurance application. Items not declared will not be covered.
Complete Coverage Required
Your complete consignment must be insured. Motor vehicles are valued at South African market value.
Accurate Declarations
Insurers expect reasonably accurate valuations. Serious under-valuation will result in the application of the average clause.
Understanding the Average Clause
If your belongings are under-insured, the average clause will apply to any claim settlement. This means your claim payout will be reduced proportionally to the degree of under-insurance.
Example
If your items are insured for R50,000 but their actual value is R100,000 (50% under-insured), your claim settlement will be reduced by 50%.
To avoid this, ensure all items are accurately valued at their full replacement cost.

Making a Claim
Claims Process
Once you have completed your insurance application and it has been processed, you will receive confirmation along with detailed claims instructions. A copy of these instructions is also sent to the delivering mover to ensure a smooth process should you need to make a claim.
All claims are administered by Aon South Africa, ensuring professional and efficient handling of any insurance matters that may arise during your move.
